A collaboration between Dreadbox and software developer Sinevibes, the Dreadbox Typhon Monophonic USB Powered Analog Synthesizer transports the ultra-fat Dreadbox analog sound into a portable desktop unit. Belying its small size and welcoming price point, the Typhon is packed to the gills with stunning sound design features. This formidable monophonic synth comprises two all-analog VCOs, a four-pole resonant lowpass filter, two envelope generators, and analog VCAs — all the components you would expect from an old-school inspired subtractive synth. Sinevibes powers up the Typhon with its cutting-edge DSP technology and sound design prowess, equipping it with an expansive FX section that includes six separate distortions, a bitcrusher, two delays, reverb, and three modulation effects. Synthesists at Sweetwater know that the creative impulse can strike anywhere. With the Dreadbox Typhon, you’ll always have a creative tool by your side. Plug in your headphones, build a pattern in its 32-step sequencer, and start making some killer synth lines. And, featuring onboard storage for up to 254 presets, you can take your spark of inspiration back into the studio or onto the stage.
Three independent modulators
Typhon gives you access to three independent modulators, which are assignable to up to 13 modulation destinations. Alter pitch, frequency cutoff, waveshapes, effects parameters, and more to sculpt dynamic patches, using Typhon’s LFOs, envelope generators and even its 32-step sequencer as a source.
Expansive FX section programmed by Sinevibes
Get grungy or wade in the ether with a deep reserve of effects. Developed alongside the intrepid sound design company Sinevibes, Typhon’s cache of distortions, delays, and modulation effects deliver endless options for taking your synth formations to new heights. Dirty things up with one of Typhon’s six flavors of distortion. Employ the bitcrusher to mangle your signal into sputtering nonsense. Add otherworldly atmosphere with Typhon’s lush reverb and two delays. And dial up depth and dimension using the chorus, ensemble, and flanger effects.
Fully featured 32-step sequencer
On the road and without a MIDI controller? No problem. Typhon is equipped with a potent 32-step sequencer, so you can compose your Tangerine Dream-inspired synthwave masterpieces anywhere, anytime. Programming the sequencer using Typhon’s encoder is a breeze, giving you control over note, velocity, octave, gate, length, swing, and BPM division. Moreover, you’re not just limited to programming ostinatos and basslines. Typhon’s sequencer can also be used as a modulation source for brewing complex signal manipulations.
